Raising Awareness about Menstrual Hygiene Health Education
Dr. Suneeli Anand, an SBI #YouthforIndia fellow, is working tirelessly to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and health education for women and adolescents in Dedtalai, Madhya Pradesh. Her goal is to empower and educate women in the area so they can take control of their own menstrual hygiene health and well-being.
A Successful 2-Day Workshop on Menstrual Hygiene Health Education
To kick off her project, Dr. Anand organized a 2-day workshop on December 15th and 16th, focusing on menstrual hygiene health education. The workshop, titled "Jaarukta Prashikshan Karyakram," was specifically designed to educate and inspire young girls and women from different villages.
On the first day of the workshop, schoolgirls in Shekhpura Village had the opportunity to participate in interactive and informative sessions, led by a trainer from the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), on menstrual hygiene health education. The girls were also treated to a short film on menstrual hygiene and related facts, which sparked lively discussions and questions.
The next day, around 55 women from different villages came to attend the workshop, eager to learn more about menstrual hygiene health education and were excited to receive informational leaflets on the do's and don'ts during menstruation.

Personal Experiences Highlight the Importance of Menstrual Hygiene Health Education
One of the highlights of the workshop was when a member of a self-help group, Geeta Jiji, shared her personal experience of struggling with severe stomach pain for a long time, which ultimately required surgery. She revealed that the cause of her pain was due to using cloth during her menstrual period, which emphasizes the importance of menstrual hygiene health education.
Some of the schoolgirls also bravely shared their own experiences of their first period with the group, sparking an open and honest conversation among the participants on menstrual hygiene health education.
